Cancel the Cruel Circus : Potters Bar The `Great` British Circus are
performing at Northaw Road West, Cuffley, near Potters Bar, from Tues 12th
April.This circus have many animals including lions, tigers, zebras, camels, llamas, horses, ponies, goats and reindeer. If you are planning protests, or can help others, let us know.

World Weeks for Animals in Laboratories World Laboratory Animal Liberation Week
is the week that surrounds April 24th every year - It's a national week of
protests, media events, etc. at laboratories to stop testing and research
on animals, with many opportunities for local campaigning.As April 24th falls on a Sunday this year we are billing it as a fortnight. In the UK, NAVS are billing the week at 24th - 30th April, whilst the Gateway to Hell campaign, a major new initiative from three grassroots anti-vivisection groups are starting with a major day of action on 16th April. Vegan Campaign Group for LondonIf you are interested in helping to set up a group to promote veganism and to run vegan campaigns in the London area, you are welcome to attend a meeting to discuss these ideas on Monday April 18th, 7pm at Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, WC1. Among the ideas to be discussed, it is envisaged the group will organise free vegan food fayres, hold information stalls and leafleting as well as helping to organise the annual London Vegan Festival, which takes place this year on September 25th, at Kensington Town Hall. |

Turtle Protection End of the Petition to the European Parliament
for the Protection of Turtles.This is an online event. At that time, everyone who has subscribed the "NoTurtle" mailing list will be asked to send to the "NoTurtle" Post Box the signatures they have collected for the "Petition to the European Parliament for the Protection of Turtles." The NoTurtle staff will hand the signatures over to the European Parliament. This petition asks for the prohibition on the importation of all the species of freshwater turtles to the European Union. Most of the turtles who survive the terrible shipping are abandoned in the wild, after their first years of life. From that moment on, they pose a serious threat to European species, such as the Emys orbicularis and the Mauremys leprosa turtles, which are disappearing very fast. Full details at Event Web Site. |

Save the Lynton Goats Protest against Lynton Town Council's plans to
cull around 100 of the wild goats, including nannys with kids, from the
historic Valley of the Rocks.The demo is being arranged to coincide with their full council meeting. The people responsible for the decision to massacre the goats will all be there - It is a great opportunity to let them know the level of opposition to the planned cull. Meet outside Lynton Town Hall, in North Devon at 1.30pm.

Stop the DEathFRA Badger Killers DEFRA Badger Cull expected to restart sometime in May in Cornwall, Devon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire. The Coalition of Badger Action Groups (CBAG) takes non violent
direct action against DEFRA's (formerly MAFF's) unscientific and cruel
badger slaughtering program. We 'monitor' the killing areas and
individuals take action to save badgers' (and other animals)

Remembering Rusty On May 2nd 2004, a greyhound called Rusty was
discovered by a dog walker, whimpering in agony in a rubbish tip on
Fochriw Mountain in the Rhymney Valley, South Wales. Rusty had been shot
in the head with a captive-bolt pistol, and his ears had been hacked off
(presumably, because they contained tattoos that could identify
him).Despite this appalling torture, Rusty was still alive - and wagging his tail - but his injuries were so extensive that he was later "put to sleep" by a vet. At Caerphilly Magistrates Court on December 22nd, greyhound "executioner" Andrew Gough was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment for torturing Rusty and banned from keeping animals for life. It emerged during the trial that Rusty's owner and trainer had handed him over to Gough to kill, after a toe injury had ended the greyhound's racing career. On Sunday, May 1st this year, we will be holding a special Remembering Rusty ceremony at the place on Fochriw Mountain where he was found.

McLibel - Provincial film premier Screening of the brand new version of
McLibel, updated to cover Helen and Dave’s recent historic victory
at the European Court of Human Rights followed by a talk by Animal Aid
speaker Irene Willis with a Q&A session.Friends Meeting House, 18 Dundonald Drive, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. From
7pm - 10pm. Free entry for film and talk. There will be a retiring
collection to help pay towards the costs of showing the film. Please give
as generously as you can because any surplus funds raised will be used to
help local animal sanctuaries. A cruelty-free supper (provided by The
Happy Hamsters vegan catering) will be available before the film and
Fairtrade refreshments will be available throughout the evening all at
very reasonable prices. Space at the venue is extremely limited so you are
advised to arrive early to avoid disappointment.
